I gave up watching The Apprentice several years ago as it lurched more and more away from business and towards entertainment. 📺
Yes I knew it always was meant to entertain however it became ridiculous.
But I've come back to check in and give it a go again. And guess what. 🙋🏼♂️
Yep.
It's still ridiculous.
So much so that I was desperate to rip my own arm off and throw it at the screen such was the incompetence of the wannabes.
And this is why it doesn't serve as any kind of educational exercise for viewers looking at Lord Sugar as someone to follow.
The format is repeated year on year as are the tasks.
So anyone watching one series knows the central goal of each task. 🥅
Negotiate the lowest price.
Put on the best event.
Create a new product.
Sell the most.
Make the most profit.
Simple really.
And when you look into the performance in some of the tasks the winning team are seen whooping and cheering over a task where they made £187 "profit."
£187 made over two days, by a team of six or seven, working 12+ hours each day.
How is this showing how to do good business when clearly this is technically a team that haemorrhaged cash and showed literally zero commercial acumen.
But not looking back at past performance to decide on future decisions and plans is something that a lot of businesses do every single day.
So don't fall into the same trap as those who grace your television screen for a few months every year hoping for an investment from the Amstrad owner.
Or else you might end up hearing the words,
"You're Fired."
