I don't often talk about clients in my emails - I guess it is a bit about the privacy we operate with for all of them. However I am going to make an exception here.
You see, business owners form three camps normally.
- The Fearful - those who are naturally pessimistic and worry about what could go wrong.
- The Renegades - those who go "hell for leather" without any thought of the consequences, and
- The Considerate - those who explore all of the angles and take careful chances if the benefits seem to outweigh the drawbacks.
And for Kimberley, a client that has been with us since 2021, this was seen in a conversation she had with her husband, Chris, before agreeing to letting us help her.
I wasn't there but I think the chat went something like this.
CHRIS: How much per month is it going to cost us?
KIM: It's not that much. And I think they could really help us to grow our business.
CHRIS: Yeah, it sounds good on paper, but what if it doesn't work?
KIM: Yes, but what if it does?
At this point, Kim's business was turning over about £80k a year. She was working very hard but didn't know what to do to grow her business.
Fast forward to today and that business is now turning over £1.35m, has a healthy net margin and she is now forecasting to sell the business for a good seven-figure price within five years.
Yes, she has achieved that herself - with a little guidance and support from us.
So remember that when it comes to making decisions about what to do, sometimes it makes sense to think about the upside of it working, rather than the potential of it failing.
You might be missing opportunities out there.
